How To Teach Children Magic
As you probably are quite aware, children are like little thirsty sponges that soak up information at an impressive rate. So, if you are going to be teaching magic tricks to a child or to many children you need to be prepared for all the questions that they can ask... and, believe me, kids can ask some doozies. Their honesty combined with their curiosity can be both difficult and endearing.
The first thing you will want to establish with kids is that you know what you are talking about. It is you that is the expert. You should do a few simple tricks yourself ending with the one you plan on teaching them how to do.
Depending upon the age of the child or the children, choose a magic trick to teach them that it is possible for them to do considering their height and the size of their hands.
On the other hand, if you are not a magician, don't pretend to be and just have some fun with some very simple tricks that you can do.
If you happen to be the parent (aunt, uncle, Godmother or Godfather, Grandmother or Grandfather) of a budding magician and he or she is begging and pleading for a magic kit, you can find some very good ones online (Illusionist is a good site) or at your local magic shop.
Learning magic tricks together with you child is great fun and a great way to spend time together. And once you get started... there's a good chance that both you and your child will get hooked!
When buying a magic kit for a child, do not choose one that says it is for kids from 4 to 104.
There are an abundance of magic tricks and kits that are geared for the age of the child. Also, if your child has been executing magic tricks and shows a real interest... their skill level may be above the recommended age anyway.
With a one size fits all magic kit, the kids wont be able to do but about half of the tricks in the kit. Their hands wont be big enough.
Also, it's a good idea to be certain that the instructions come with pictures or video.
Information about how to do the tricks in nothing but print are almost useless to children.
Once you find one that you like, you'll and your kids will be well on the way to hours of fun... and who knows... maybe a budding magician.

When it comes to teaching any subject matter to beginners, it can be much easier than you might think Simply because beginners don't know anything about the subject or have any preconceived notions or past history of learning the subject, and whatever you teach them they learn it exactly as you teach it without polluting the teaching with their own preconceived ideas

Do You Believe In Magic?
But if you are thinking of starting a career in magic, the best way is to start early. In case your not, its never to late to start but will take you a little harder. You can make your first step by buying your first magic trick box and learn the basic magic tricks from cards, coins to threads and other a little complicated magic tricks. Though this may sound so elementary for you, this is still the best introduction to magic you can find. The box, however, will not tell you how to act in front of an audience. You have to make your own efforts and initiatives. A good way to learn this is by watching magic shows and observe how the masters do their tricks in front of an audience.
If you have been doing your homework, then you will observe that the masters do the top 3 things while performing magic in front of an audience:
1. Do a nice patter - this means that you should put your act well by pulling some appropriate dialogue to perform your magic trick. Learn some jokes, ask your audience some questions and use a lot of hand movements. This will make them distracted but focused on you instead of finding out how you did the magic. A magic show can turn into a theatrical event if you want it to become one. This is not as easy as you think and you will not get by just a few practices and watching the masters do it.
You need a lot of effort, discipline and ability on your part and of course countless practice. To guide you in this trick you should remember and follow religiously two things: a) maintain eye contact with your spectator. Be sure that you have your spectators' attention only to you and listening to whatever you say; b) it pays if you have a sense of humor because it makes your audience feel relaxed and conditions them only to be caught off guard of what you have to perform.
2. The after effect - after wowing your audience with your act, let them continue their amazement with your trick, let them continuously react to your next tricks. Do not make them lose their attention to you and most importantly, do not say anything. If they asked you how you did that just remain quiet. Never pull the plug and give away your act or else all the mystery will fade away.
3. Be confident - Never perform in an audience if you know that you are not yet ready. Nervousness can easily give your trick away. A lot of practice breeds confidence. You need to convince your audience that not only your trick is magical but you as well.
If you master all these techniques, it will be much easier for you to win your audience - kids or adults. You can even go from up close magic to platform magic and stage magic like what Copperfield does but of course that requires a lot of experience and expertise plus a lot of help from cameras.
The key to being a master magician is to learn how to perform magic in an instant using a lot of borrowed objects. Magic is just a quarter of your trick but how you do your trick is the most important. Your presentation in front of an audience is the key not some spectacular, complicated magic.
More help is on your way if you know where to find it Check out some magic shops nearby your area. Make a list of the tricks you wanted to learn and bring them to the shop. Ask the owner to perform some on your list, teach you how and try it in front of him. Practice them in front of mirror as soon as you go home. You will be amazed at how fast you can do all these tricks.
If you think you are ready for an audience, organize and host a party and perform your magic for free. If your confident enough, there is a lot of possibility that some will ask you to perform in an event or another party, be ready to market yourself and hand out business cards.
Now, that is how you get started in the field of magic.

Why Use Magic Tricks With Sponges
I worked with classic red balls for years, but I got sick and tired of playing hide and seek with them when they rolled off the table. I also got sick of the clown nose comments. This is why I further developed sponge magic.
I have spent many years developing material (plenty of classic sleights and several different routines) but the handling I do most often is a quick "Miser Dream." I slip my hands into my back pockets, grab the jumbo earplug in the left hand and one of the small earplugs into my right. Then I quickly pretend to "find" several earplugs on other people's elbows, ears, etc- and each time I pretend to put in into my left hand, but of course just hold out the same one earplug in my right.
To finish, I produce the earplug from my own ear (or wherever) and jam "everything" that is in my left hand into a spectator's hand. I just tap the back of their hand with the one small earplug and just stand back and SAY NOTHING - the longer they wait, the more tension builds and when they open their hand - BOOM. Talk about feeling like a REAL magician!
This is also a great trick for serious hecklers. They make some dumb comment and I say something back. And then when they make another dumb comment (which they almost always do) I just say, "I don't think you're listening," and I pretend to spot something in their ear. Finally, I just say "Ohhhh, that explains it!" and pretend to pull the jumbo earplug out of their ear. Without saying a word I've been able to make the heckler the butt of a great magic sight gag, with all his friends busting a gut. It's clear sailing for the rest of the show!
There are other great magicians who have created effects with stuff OTHER than sponges. "Lazarus" is a wonderful bar effect where the classic "do as I" routine is performed with matches.
"Re:Cap" is a very fresh transposition between a borrowed coin and the CAP of a salt shaker standing at the end of a table. Magicians constantly floor folks with this stunning opener for years.
There are a lot of different things magicians can do with sponges. Look around for a sponge magic trick to work into your routine. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the reactions you get from your audience.

Magic Tricks For Kids - Kids Love Magic Tricks
There are so many hard and complicated magic tricks in the wide world of magic & illusions. That is why there are specific magic tricks that are made for children to perform. You, as the parent, can enjoy spending a lot of quality time teaching your children these wonderfully easy magic tricks that are for kids. One of the oldest magic tricks in the book is "Find the Card". All you need is a normal 52 card deck for this trick to be successful. When it comes to the preparation of this trick you only need to make sure you see the bottom card of the deck. Only as an example we will just say that the bottom card is an ace of spades. Next, you should fan your cards out and ask someone from your audience to pick a card. Let your volunteer take the chosen card from the deck and that they should remember it. The next thing you need to do is take the deck and place it in the face down position on the table. Tell the volunteer to put their card on the top and cut the deck once. Then, tell them to take the bottom half of the now cut deck and place it on top of the other half deck. Then, you should grab all of the cards and fan them out to where you can see the faces of the cards. All you have to do is look for that Ace of Spades, or whatever card was on the bottom in the beginning of the trick. The card below your originally memorized card is the card the volunteer picked! That is a very neat and simple trick that any kid can do. If you child is at all interested in being successful at more than a few tricks then the "Find the Card" trick is a necessity. The reason that magic trick for kids is important is because it teaches a key lesson with being able to memorize a card as well as follow a card. Anytime that you are told to memorize a card in order to perform a magic card trick, you should know that it is usually referred to as the "key card". Those two things are important to the world of magic and illusions and is a must for every magician to know. So the next time your children become bored, which is actually quite often, show them an easy little magic trick. They will surely enjoy showing it off to anyone and everyone! |

Quick And Easy Kids Magic Tricks
Tricks such as the Broken Pencil Trick, the Eggcup Trick, and the Vanishing Coin Trick are frequently part of magic kits sold to kids, and they're easy to do. Most kits include all the things you'll need to perform these tricks.
When it comes to kids magic tricks, you don't need to do a whole lot to prepare. The Empty Matchbox Trick, for example, can be done with little or no notice at all. You just need a couple of matchboxes (one filled, one empty) and a rubber band to do the trick.
The matchbox trick is easy. All you do is ask the audience how many matches they think are in the box. You shake it, and they hear the matches rattling. The trick is, you're holding the empty box while the full one is attached unseen to your arm; the audience hears the full one shaking.
The Wine into Water trick is another excellent kids magic trick. All you need is water, bleaching powder, and some red food coloring.
First, pour water into a glass and add some red food dye. This will make the water to appear like it is wine.
Add some bleaching powder to a separate glass. Now, dump the red "wine" into the other glass. Like magic, it turns clear! That's the magic of bleach. But if there's going to be any kids around, there needs to be strict adult supervision. Bleach is a dangerous chemical.
If you have a hard time finding a decent magic trick, it's easy enough to do kids magic tricks using only everyday items you find around the house. You just need a single pencil to perform the Rubber Pencil Trick.
You can make the pencil look rubbery if you hold it loosely near the tip and wobble it around. Kids love seeing these kinds of illusions.
Remember, kids magic tricks are fun not just for kids, but for adults too. If you're an adult who wants to pick up some magic tricks, it's a great idea to start trying the easy ones first.
When you master kids magic tricks and can comfortably do them in front of a crowd, you will have an easier time tackling some of the more difficult tricks.

Magic Shops- Scam Magicians
Magic Shops Scam Magicians !
If these words sound harsh I say this for a reason. Many magic shops selling magic tricks via the internet scam aspiring magicians. Now I’m not saying every magic shop scams aspiring magicians but many do. Some companies selling magic tricks online do provide quality magic tricks .
In case you are wondering how to find a magic shop that sells quality magic tricks I will show you how to do this in this article. Here are a few simple but important rules. Remember cheaper is not always better. When purchasing magic tricks always purchase the best quality. It would be quite sad performing a magic trick then the trick fails. What if the secret becomes exposed this could ruin your show.
If you purchase quality magic tricks this will never happen. Many of these so called magic shops care nothing about magic. These online magic shops exist only to make large profits. This type of magic shop cares nothing about aspiring magicians. Do you thinks this type of magic shop will survive very long ? It will shock you to learn these magic shops don’t know which magic tricks are the best for performing onstage or off.
Why would someone sell magic tricks when they know nothing about magic or magicians. Lets say someone wants to make big money online. They decide magic tricks are hot so they find a supplier order products set prices then place the products online.
Then they see their competition has lower prices so they decide to lower their prices. Cutting the prices reduces the profit so they make less money. The magic shop decides to buy a lower quality of magic tricks. Now they start making more money but the quality has gone down. Who gets burned you guessed it the unsuspecting magician.
There was a time when a magic shop was owned by a real magician. One could go into the magic shop to buy magic tricks. This local magic shop sold to many professional magicians.
Those days are almost just about over. The local magic shop must pay rent and many other expenses. If they wish to stay in business the local magic must charge higher prices then the magic shop selling magic tricks online.
Because this magic shop has so much overhead it has a very hard time competing with a magic shop selling magic tricks online. Its hard competing with someone who has almost no overhead.
So follow these simple rules to avoid getting scammed.
1.Always ask if the website owner is a magician.
2.Has he/she ever performed in a magic show.
3.How long has the company been in business.
4.Buy one expensive trick and see how the quality is. If quality is good this is a real magic shop.
So follow these simple guidelines to avoid being scammed.

Magic Tricks for Anyone Interested
Pulling off with Basic Magic Tricks:
Performing bigger magical tricks will never be a child’s play but pulling off simpler ones for entertaining private audience or to just enjoy the fun is quite easy. It is to be clearly understood that the key factors required for performing any magic trick is practice and presentation. Most of these basic magic tricks are so simple to execute and are not foolproof. But carrying it out sans the suspicion of the onlookers totally depends on the craftsmanship of the performer. Knowing the exact procedure of the magic tricks and dedicated practice is essential as all these steps must be done quickly and professionally within the few moments when the audiences’ concentration is diverted. After finishing with the practice, it will be helpful to watch few professional magicians at work and note the way they grab the attention of the onlookers. According to many, this art of controlling the attention of the onlookers is more important than performing the trick itself. Chattering while doing the ‘magic’ will keep the audience held away from what the magician is doing. It is never common for professional magicians to reveal their secrets about the magic tricks they perform. But there are thousands of step-by-step procedures and videos for learning simple magic tricks.
Few Magic Tricks:
The Floating Ring Trick:
A good trick to impress the crowd but requires preparation and practice. Soak a 3 to 4 inch long string in a regular cup with very thick salt water for an hour or so. The preparation is completed and all one has to do is ask for a ring from the audience, preferably the light weight ones. Now comes the ‘trick’ part; tie the ring to the string with the audience watching it. Tell them you are going to burn the string and the ring will ‘magically’ continue to float in midair. The ring indeed free floats even after the string is burnt. This is because the string disappears after it is burnt and the salt crystals which are not much visible hold the ring. Awe the onlookers with this simple trick which does not require much hidden steps to be done for executing the magic trick. Trying it out many times prior to the actual performance will be a good practice.
Water to Ice Magic Trick:
Though this is very simple one, with neat presentation it is sure to receive rounds of applause from audiences. Inform the onlookers that you are going to pour water into a cup and will make ice cubes from it instantly. This needs the use of opaque cup with sponge placed at the bottom. Place few ice cubes in it either prior to the performance or carefully during the magic trick. All one has to do is flamboyantly pour water into the cup and the sponge will absorb the water completely. Thus be inverting the cups there will be ice cubes instead of water. Thus magic tricks can be done easily by the interested individuals.

The Grand Illusion - Large-Scale Magic Tricks That Won't Fail to Impress!
Have you ever watched a TV magic special and wondered, "How is that possible?" have you ever been curious as to how the top magicians accomplish some of their most extraordinary feats?
Soon you won't be wondering; you'll be trying them out for yourself!
Let's start with one of the oldest tricks in the book, but one of the best and most vividly compelling - levitation!
Levitation
Since you're interested in magic and illusion I'm going to bet you've heard of levitation before. Perhaps you've even seen a magician perform this incredible trick and wondered, "How the heck is he doing that?!" Well, hold onto your hat, because you're about to learn how.
First off, what is levitation? We all know what it looks like - the act of floating off or above the ground. It's sort of like flying. All the great magicians try to perfect this trick because it's one of the most simply visually arresting illusions in existence. And it's actually not that hard to do….
We practical magicians know that there is some trickery involved in levitation as a performance. However, there are those who believe in the real phenomenon of levitation as a form of psychokinesis, or the ability to move objects just with the power of the mind. The only people said to be able to perform levitation in reality are the spiritual elite, or those possessed by spiritual forces, like shamans, people in trances, or those possessed by a devil.
Now I don't know anyone who's actually seen a REAL levitation outside a magic performance, so take this for what you will….
I mean, you can sit on the floor and meditate and wait to "lift off," but unless you're really in possession of some special supernatural forces I don't think you're going to have too much luck!
What I am here to show you is how to perform the trick of levitation, to give your audience the impression that you are floating, or else causing some other object to float.
Levitation as a magic illusion has recently been practiced in the public sphere by such magic superstars as David Blaine and David Copperfield. Copperfield even performed a spectacular stunt in which he appeared to float over the Grand Canyon!!
All smoke and mirrors? TV special effects? Not exactly...

How To Do The Best Magic Tricks
If you are a newbie magician and you want to improve your magic tricks, follow these tips and you are guaranteed to perform magic tricks that will amaze your audience.
Be Natural
The secret in having a great sleight of hand is your naturalness. There should be no hand wagging, no hand waving, jerky or quick motions. You should work naturally, deliberately, and slowly. If you master this, balls, coins, rings, cards, and coins will begin reappearing and disappearing at the tips of your fingers.
Watching your angles
You should be aware of your angles. Angles refer to the sleight lines between the item that you have just palmed off and the eye of your spectators. If you do not have the right angles, the audience could take a glimpse or see the object in your hand and your trick will be caught.
Practice your palming skills wherever you go
The most necessary skill of a man with a great sleight of hand is the ability or skill of palming an object that goes undetected. You could perfect this after some time of practicing palming small objects like coins in your everyday normal routine. You could palm a small object or item in both of your hands or either while writing, eating, watching TV, walking around, or doing other activities. If you practice care about the angles, no one would notice what you are doing, and after some time, what you are now doing self-consciously would later become almost natural to you. From then on, you could be able to palm objects or items more confidently, boldly, and successful each time.
Master your presentation
Practice your presentation. A small trick that is well presented could work wonders even without the most sophisticated of techniques since the audience would most likely relate to your trick or understand it.
What good is a magician if nobody understands or enjoys his or her tricks? The presentations therefore should be straightforward, simple, and understood easily so that your viewers or watchers could understand and enjoy the complete meaning of what you have been saying and doing.
Do not replicate a trick
Do not repeat the same trick for the same viewers or watchers. That is one of the basic rules in doing magic. When you repeat a trick, your audience would immediately know what you are going to do next. What may have been a miracle for you when you did your trick for the first time may not be quite satisfying or dazzling the next time around.

Magic Card Tricks And Card Marking
Contrary to what the audiences may think, the deck of cards that a performer is using is in no way ordinary. They are usually a special set of cards that are specifically prepared in order to perform a variety of tricks. This can be done in many various ways. If a performer makes use of ordinary cards, there are some techniques used to make them especially useful for magicians for their tricks.
What most magicians usually do to make their deck of cards "special" is by using marked cards. Card marking is actually a process in which seemingly ordinary playing cards are altered in such a way that only the person marking the cards is aware of it. Card marking is also usually being used by card sharks in cheating and profiting from betting card games.
In magic, card marking is an especially effective method of altering cards for the purpose of performing astonishing magic tricks. Marked cards can allow magicians to identify certain cards for magical effect. The most common card marking method has been punching holes on certain cards that only the performer can effectively distinguish. But card marking has also become more sophisticated with the use of advances in technology.
Newer methods of card marking make use of what is now called as shade technology. An example would be luminous marked cards. These are cards that make use of luminosity of the cards when a device such as a special pair of sunglasses or contact lens is used on them. Without the device, the cards may look like ordinary cards to onlookers. But with the sunglasses on, the cards can be seen differently along with the marks made on them.
There are also cards that are marked by the way that a deck of cards are designed. Some special cards may contain visible but tiny marks that can only be read by trained magicians who can read the tiny marks that double as codes. Sometimes marked card readers use eyeglasses in order to better read the tiny but unnoticeable to the untrained eye type of marks on the cards. These types of cards are usually designed so that the marked cards can be read from even a distance while another person may be holding them.
Marked cards outside the magic arena are used by some as a means to cheat at casinos or when gambling. In order to prevent this from happening, there are also other ways in which people can detect whether marked cards are being used. One of the most common ways of detecting them is by riffling or shuffling them. This method is commonly called as a gambler's riffle test.
It is simply done by riffling the cards carefully. If a deck of cards is marked, the marks will usually be noticed as if dancing from the back of the cards just like a cartoon drawn on each card back. This can be effective in detecting marked cards with physical marks such as tiny holes or depressions on them.

Simple Magic Tricks
There is nothing more entertaining to do at parties or gatherings than doing a number of simple magic tricks. There are a number of magic tricks that are fairly easy to learn. You do not need to have extraordinary talent to do such magic tricks for entertainment. All you will need is some time to read and understand the trick as well as to practice. Here are some simple magic tricks that you can try out:
The Non-Bursting Balloon
If you have ever seen magicians push a needle into a balloon only to amazingly see it still inflated and not bursting, this trick will give you in on the secret. For this simple magic trick, you will need an inflated balloon, a sharp pin long enough for your audience to see and a tiny piece of transparent adhesive tape. To prepare for this trick, you take a small piece of adhesive tape and place it somewhere in the part of the balloon where you wish to push the sharp pin into. Make sure to stick it so that it evenly adheres to the rubber surface of the balloon.
In doing this trick, try to tell your audience that you will attempt to insert a pin into an inflated balloon without letting it burst as what will usually happen. Take the inflated balloon in your hand and hold a sharp pin with the other. Slowly try to bring them together. As you do so, try to locate the area where you have placed a tiny piece of adhesive tape. Then try to gently insert the sharp pin into it.
Make sure that you do this carefully by rolling the pin as you try to insert it into the balloon. Slowly you will see the pin going through the balloon, incredibly without the balloon bursting.
The secret to this trick is that the adhesive tape holds together the rubber surface of the balloon even when the sharp pin is inserted through it and preventing it from tearing apart. What you get is a balloon with a hole but does not burst. In doing the trick, try to show the audience that you have successfully inserted a sharp pin into the balloon without bursting. But to let them know that you are using an ordinary pin.
Take it out slowly and then use it again to pierce the balloon and let it burst. You may need to do this before the balloon releases the air inside it which will obviously give your secret trick away.
Mysterious Coin Balance
Here is another simple trick that would surely amaze your audience but would require a bit of dexterity using your hands. You will need a large coin and then a straight pin to make this trick work. In order to do this trick, try to practice concealing the straight pin in one hand. With the other hand, try to take the large coin out of your pocket and show it to the audience.
Tell your audience that you will try to use your mind over matter abilities in order to make the large coin stand up between your fingertips. Allow the audience to take a closer look at the coin to convince them that it is just an ordinary coin. Or you can choose to use a coin from a volunteer.
Once you have the coin back, place it on top of your fingertips where you have concealed the straight pin. Now raise the coin to a standing position along with the straight pin. Do this while keeping the pin and the coin close together. Then slowly remove your hand from the coin and it will magically stand up, with the help of the straight pin that only you know is there.

How To Master Professional Magic Tricks In 4 Easy Steps
Whether you want to make a lasting name for yourself, or if you just want to be the life of the next party, here are a few keys tips to developing a set of professional magic tricks.
1) Learn Each Trick Completely
If you are a beginner, learn simple tricks first. The procedures for doing magic tricks can be found online or even in books from your local library. Even though tricks may be classified as easy, study and memorize every step. This will be good training for you when you advance to more difficult tricks. Get into the habit of learning each trick completely; this is a good first step to performing professional quality magic tricks.
2) Practice Makes Perfect
Sometimes, practicing is the hardest part. We all want to immediately work in front of an audience to hear their applause and gasps of wonder. But to get the accolades, you must first do the time. Practice your magic tricks before a mirror, or videotape yourself for a play by play account. Practicing is never a waste of time.
Each minute brings you closer to your goal of performing professional magic tricks. When you watch your performance, either in a mirror or on videotape, you can spot any mistakes or actions that should be corrected. Practicing is the best way to progress.
3) Zero in on Details
Once you get the hang of a few tricks and understand the basics of magic, you may think you can relax a bit. Not so. Magic tricks, even the simple ones, have details that can't be overlooked.
Every magician knows that their entire performance may hinge on the smallest of details. Never look for a shortcut; there are none in magic. Professional magic tricks succeed because the magician considers every step and detail to be equally important.
4) Simplicity Equals Success
Here is an amazing and totally true thought: Most magic tricks are incredibly simple. Of course, professionals want their magic tricks to confound and astound, but the reality is that these illusions are based on easy to learn principles. Sometimes, most of the magic is in the magician's performance, rather than the trick itself. Many tricks that are currently seen in shows today are actually hundreds of years old. This testifies to the magician's everlasting ability to entertain and to the audience's never ceasing wonder.
To perform professional magic tricks, first develop a professional attitude and then practice until your skills are of professional quality. Remember that a professional is merely someone who has studied and mastered his subject. In the case of magic, anyone can reach this level with a determined commitment and a desire to be the best they can be. Before going onstage, repeatedly practice your act offstage. And then listen to the applause that you will conjure up!

Easy Magic Tricks
Easy magic tricks can be learned in an instant if you wish to impress friends or relatives. There are a lot of easy magic tricks that you can learn and master that would only take some bit of practice and some showmanship. Here are some god examples of simple yet effective magic tricks that you can learn:
The Self-Tying Handkerchief
For this trick you would need just an ordinary cloth handkerchief that has one end tied into a simple knot. The object of the trick is to convince your audience that you have the ability to tie a knot in a handkerchief using just one hand. In order to make it possible, you try to take your handkerchief out of your pocket. Try to let them see only the end without the knot. With the knotted end hidden in your hand, try to pick up the hanging end with the other hand and then releasing it again.
You can do this two times to add some flair on your magic trick. But on the third try, let go of the knotted end by dropping it instead of the expected corner. Try to remember to conceal the switch by hiding it with your fast hand movements. This will add to the baffling effect of this simple and easy magic trick.
The Knot Tying Challenge
This is a pretty simple trick that can impress your friends. What you need is a single piece of rope about three to four feet long. You lay the rope in front of your audience of friends and then challenge them to tie a knot into the rope without letting go pf both ends while doing so. It can be sort of a puzzle that you let them try out for awhile.
When none of them can figure it out, which would mean most of the time, you then try to do it yourself. The secret to this trick is fairly simple- just cross your hands when taking hold of the rope. When you cross your hands, you are seemingly making out a knot with your hands. When you have done this, try to get hold of each end of the rope. Then try to uncross your hands. As you to this, the tie that you have made with your hands will transfer to the rope. Therefore you have successfully tied up a knot in the rope without letting go of the ends while doing it.
The Unbreakable Match
This magic trick may require some bit of preparation. You would need a handkerchief with a hem or sewn fold on the edges and two wooden matches or toothpicks. Before you show the trick to the audience, place a toothpick or a wooden match inside the hem of the handkerchief beforehand. Then let a volunteer to choose a toothpick or match from several others that you have brought with you.
Once a volunteer has chosen a toothpick or matchstick, lay out your handkerchief on the table and place the chosen matchstick in the center. Roll out the handkerchief with the matchstick covered in the middle. As you do this, try to get hold of the matchstick hidden in the hem by feeling it and then let the volunteer touch it. Have it confirmed from the volunteer that there is indeed a matchstick inside. You can then either break the matchstick in half or you let the volunteer do it.
Take the rolled up handkerchief back and then break the matchstick again. Your audience will think that the matchstick that was broken was the one that they saw rolled up a while ago.
Slowly unroll the handkerchief and show them the matchstick, still at the center and unbroken! Now that's an easy magic trick to learn and try with your friends.
Magic Trick Tips
Sleight of hand is actually a technique used in magic where a magician makes use of certain hand movements to manipulate objects such as coins and cards. Sleight of hand is a technique that magicians and performers use in order to produce a certain effect. Sleight of hand is that technique where the magician tries to show an audience something and lets them see it in a certain way. It is like trying to force upon a spectator to see a certain object in effect that will lead them to believe that it is so.
But the fact of the matter is that it may not actually be how the spectator actually sees it. It can be quite confusing but learning more about sleight of hand would help you further understand about the process.
There are seven different methods used for sleight of hand magic tricks. They usually require lots of practice before a person can be effective enough in using them. Palming is one of the most common of sleight of hand methods. It refers to the action of trying to seemingly have an object in an apparently empty hand. Steal is another sleight of hand method wherein a performer tries to obtain a needed object secretly.
Another sleight of hand method used in magic is ditching. It is a method used to try and secretly get rid of an object that the performer doesn't need. Loading is another sleight of hand technique that is used to move an object secretly to where the magician wants it to be. Simulation is another sleight of hand technique that magicians use to give the audience the impressions that something has happened when in fact, nothing has.
Another popular sleight of hand tool that magicians often use is misdirection. It is a series of actions that lead the audience to look the other way while the magician tries to do a secret move. Misdirection allows magicians to hide what he is doing that might obviously give away the trick to the audience. Switching is another sleight of hand principle that is used to exchange an object secretly in place of another.
Doing sleight of hand magic tricks takes a lot of practice since hand and body movements are often employed to generate a certain effect. The different techniques can provide the basis to how magic tricks can be performed. Most sleight of hand tricks are utilized in close-up magic although they may also work as well from a distance or above the stage.
Although most sleight of hand principles are being used for magic, there are other people who try to use it in order to deceive. A lot of sleight of hand techniques can be used by some people to cheat at gambling games where the techniques can be performed quite differently than how magicians usually do it.
That is why sleight of hand techniques also brings with them a negative association that is borne out of the use of such skills for doing bad things.
Learn Magic Card Tricks
One of the methods being used in magic card tricks is by employing a trick deck. A trick deck refers to a special deck of playing cards that has been altered in some ways in order to allow the magician or performer to do certain tricks with them. Trick decks are usually used when sleight of hand might be difficult or impractical to use for certain tricks.
There are various types of trick decks that magicians use to do special magic tricks. One of them is the stripper deck. The stripper deck is a type of trick deck that allows a magician or performer to easily control the location of a card or group of cards even after being shuffled by a spectator. The stripper deck always allows the performer to cut to the selected card or put a selected card at the top or bottom of the deck with just a few shuffles.
The Svengali deck is another type of trick deck used by magicians to perform certain magic card tricks. The Svengali deck usually allows certain tricks to be performed with almost no skill required. Most tricks done with the Svengali deck are known to be self-working. This trick deck can be riffled or even shuffled to give the illusion that it is quite an ordinary deck of cards. But using the Svengali deck can allow the performer to have a chosen card appear at any part of the deck.
Force decks are the kind of trick decks used to force a spectator to choose a particular card. One of the most common of force decks is one that contains identical cards. This way, the magician already knows what the spectator is choosing even with the illusion of letting the spectator choose from a number of different cards. But the performer is always careful not to let the audience see that faces of the identical cards of the force deck in order for the trick to be successful.
A marked deck is another specially made trick deck that is characterized by certain marks that only the performer knows about. The marked deck may look just like an ordinary card to the spectator, but such cards usually have subtle marks on the decorative side of the deck of cards that tell the performer about what each one is. The marks can either be placed at certain positions to indicate the number of the card and at a certain color to indicate the suit.
There are other trick decks that performers make use of to do their amazing magic card tricks. Some of these trick cards require some practice and a bit of knowledge to use correctly and to do tricks quite successfully. Learning always is important even in doing magic tricks.
